About the event

Finding the Right Fit: How to Spot Disability-Friendly Jobs and Employers is a practical 2-hour workshop for parents, caregivers, young adults, schools, and organizations. This workshop goes beyond simply looking for job openings. Families will learn how to prepare a young adult before the job search begins, understand what work means to them, identify anxiety or support needs, and choose job fields that match the young adult’s strengths, interests, environment, and realistic level of support.

Participants will also learn how to spot green flags and red flags in jobs and employers, how to narrow opportunities down to five realistic places, and how to build a Places + People list using both traditional and untraditional job-search strategies. The workshop will also cover how to use networking, volunteering, job practice, and community connections instead of relying only on online applications.

A major focus will be helping families think ahead about support after employment begins.…
