Job Shadowing

Career Exploration & Job Shadowing

Real Work. Real Insight. Real Confidence.

For Young Adults with Disabilities or Life Challenges

 Phase 1 — Discovery & Abilities Assessment (Week 1–2)

We begin with a parent/caregiver meeting and 1-on-1 coaching sessions to explore strengths, interests, sensory needs, comfort zones, and realistic workplace possibilities.
A simple “Career Interest Snapshot” is created to guide the exploration process.

Phase 2 — Career Mapping & Options Planning (Week 2–3)

We break down interests into clear, manageable job categories.
Together with the family, we identify 3–5 realistic career paths and create a personalized Career Exploration Map with environments worth trying.

 Phase 3 — Research & Site Outreach (Week 3–4)

We research local businesses, programs, and organizations that match the client’s interests.
We handle outreach, networking, and communication with potential host sites and secure 1–3 job shadowing or trial visit opportunities.

Phase 4 — Job Shadowing Preparation & Coaching (Week 4–5)

The client receives a 1-on-1 coaching session to prepare for the shadowing experience.
We practice:
• workplace greetings
• asking for help
• following routines
• understanding expectations
• managing anxiety and transitions

This builds confidence before entering a new environment.

Phase 5 — Job Shadowing Experience (Week 5–6)

The individual participates in job shadowing with supportive guidance.
We observe:
• tasks they enjoy
• tasks they avoid
• engagement level
• comfort, stress, or sensory responses
• natural strengths and challenges

This provides real-world insight that no test or questionnaire can reveal.

Phase 6 — Task Analysis, Skills Review & Parent Feedback (Week 6)

We break down tasks into manageable steps, identify which tasks the client could realistically perform, and review support needs.
A family meeting is held to reflect on what worked and what didn’t.

Phase 7 — Career Recommendation Plan & Next Steps (Week 7+)

You receive a written summary with:
• Strengths and workplace preferences
• Recommended job types or volunteer roles
• Support needs and environmental considerations
• A practical next-step plan (job search, skill-building, or additional shadowing)

My Story

The Story Behind Progress Partners

A Father. A Daughter. A System That Wasn’t Built for Us.

Progress Partners didn’t begin as a business.
It began as a father trying to help his daughter.

Like so many parents of young adults with autism, I spent years navigating a system that was supposed to help — but instead moved painfully slow, offered limited choices, and felt full of restrictions and hoops to jump through. Every step forward seemed to require waiting on someone else’s approval, someone else’s timeline, someone else’s idea of what my daughter “should” be able to do.

Meanwhile, she was growing older, the challenges were getting bigger, and the window for real progress felt like it was closing.

I watched her sit at home when she could have been learning.
I watched opportunities slip away because paperwork wasn’t processed.
I watched programs promise results but provide nothing meaningful.
I watched the system stall while her life moved forward without support.

And I realized something:

If I kept waiting for the system to change, my daughter would be the one paying the price.

That was the moment something shifted in me — not just as a father, but as a person.
I knew I couldn’t rely on slow-moving programs or agencies bound by rules that had nothing to do with real life.

I wanted my daughter to experience:

  • Real progress

  • Real confidence

  • Real movement

  • Real opportunities

  • Real support from someone who actually followed through

And I knew other families wanted the same.

So I created Progress Partners — a coaching program built on action, momentum, and human connection rather than red tape, restrictions, or waiting.

🌱 What Progress Partners Is Built On

Progress Partners is built on the belief that every young adult deserves a chance to move forward, regardless of disability or challenge — and they shouldn’t need to wait months or get on endless “lists” to start.

We focus on:

  • Weekly one-on-one coaching

  • Skill-building classes that create consistency

  • Real-world opportunities like job shadowing, volunteering, and community involvement

  • A communication system that keeps parents informed and empowered

  • Fast follow-through, quick response times, and personalized support

No waiting lists.
No red tape.
No “we’ll get back to you next month.”

Just progress every week, from people who care.

🚀 Why I Built It This Way

Because I know what it feels like to be a parent begging the system for help.
I know the exhaustion of repeating the same story to a dozen different professionals.
I know the fear that your daughter is falling behind while everyone else shrugs.
I know the frustration when you’re told to “wait until something opens up” — meanwhile your daughter loses skills and confidence.

Progress Partners works differently because your family deserves better.

We create:

  • Structure

  • Accountability

  • Momentum

  • Real-life practice

  • A team approach

  • A clear path forward

Every week.
Every month.
For as long as progress is needed.

💛 The Heart of Progress Partners

At its core, Progress Partners is personal.

It’s about giving families the support I wish I had.
It’s about creating opportunities instead of waiting for them.
It’s about helping young adults discover what they’re capable of, not what a system says they’re limited to.
It’s about building confidence, independence, friendships, jobs, and purpose.

Most importantly, it's about making sure no parent ever feels alone the way I once did.

Progress Partners is the program I needed for my daughter — and now it exists for your family too.
